James R.Coughlin, Ph.D.

Biography

Dr. Coughlin has over 30 years of experience in addressing and shaping the current understanding of food and nutrition science in the US and Europe.  He has successfully managed numerous broad-ranging food safety objectives while in the private sector and on behalf of clients, covering important topics including coffee, drinking water, acrylamide, meat safety, and food bioterrorism.  Substantial emphasis has been placed on broader toxicological concerns, underlying food safety, and risk assessment of food ingredients, which includes serving on GRAS Expert Panels.   He has been intimately involved with U.S. and international regulatory matters.  Jim is a recognized authority with 20 years of involvement in addressing technical matters pertaining to California Proposition 65.  Dr. Coughlin continues to provide strategic scientific and regulatory counsel to many food, dietary supplement, chemical, mining, and consumer product companies.
